Iron County, Michigan is centered in one of Upper Michigan's most beautiful areas.  The Upper Peninsula of Michigan has been recognized for its recreations potential.  Weather.com selected Upper Michigan as one of the Top Ten Winter Family Getaways in America.  Shermans Travel selected Upper Michigan as one of the Top Ten Summer Destinations in the World. 

Cities include:  Caspian, Crystal Falls (county seat), Gaastra, Iron River, Alpha (village) and Amasa (village).  
Townships include Bates, Hematite, Mansfield, Stambaugh, Mastodon, Iron River, and Crystal Falls.  
Iron County has two Schools:  West Iron Schools and Forest Park School District.

Crystal Falls, Michigan Map
Crystal Falls, Michigan is a scenic town full of outdoor recreation and things to do.  Shop the beautiful downtown area and view the incredible court house at the top of Superior Street.  Visit the Harbour House Museum, walk the Painted River Boardwalk, visit the Crystal Threatre, the Contemporary Center, and more!

Crystal Falls, Michigan gained international attention when a giant fungus "Armillaria bulbosa" was found in a forest nearby.  Both Nature and the New York Times covered the story.  This fungus weighed 100 tons.  Scientists believe that it is the oldest living & largest organism on earth.

Iron River, Michigan Map
There area so many things to do in Iron River, Michigan.  Come and Upper Michigan's largest museum.  The Iron County Museum and park has twenty three buildings including: Cultural Center, Research Center, The Lee LeBlanc Wildlife Art Gallery, Giovanelli Italianati Art Gallery, and the Bernardt Contemporary Art Gallery.  Guests can also enjoy golfing, fishing, hunting, shopping, snowmobiling, skiing, and enjoy an endless amount of outdoor recreation! 

Iron River was known for its mining.  Within the the museum, you will find the Mining Memorial Hall where there is a list of the 562 miners who lost their lives in the mines during almost a century of work.
