Dear Friends,
   What an amazing weekend that just passed!  Lots of activities in Iron County with the best weather yet this winter season.  Mother Nature finally came out smiling and the countryside looked like a million diamonds sparkling. The new snow over the last two weeks has amounted to over 3 feet.  The snowmobile trails are amazing.  The best that I've seen in a long time. 
  Ice fisherman have been hauling in giant northern pike.  To see the smile on a little boy's face as he hauled in a 32" fish was priceless.  Iron County has given you another reason to plan your fishing get-a-way Feb. 18 & 19.  Michigan's FREE Fishing Weekend is a good time to gather together with family and friends to enjoy the traditional northwoods sport of ice fishing. During the two days, all fishing license fees will be waived on both in land and Great Lakes waters.
  Winterfest is this Saturday in Caspian.  Starting at noon at the Caspian Ski Hill a variety of eats & treats will be available.  And get your chili started so you are ready for the annual Winterfest Chili Cook Off.  Everyone is welcome to participate and entries must arrive between 11am-1pm.  Music and sledding all day long free of charge.  The Cardboard Classic is at 1:00 followed by the King & Queen contest for children ages 5-10.  Fireworks at dusk will bring the day's activities to an end.
